Learn More About FLUORESOFT® - 0.35%
FLUORESOFT® - 0.35% is indispensable as a diagnostic aid and
is useful for fitting all hybrid, hard and soft contact lenses.
Save Valuable Chair Time
FLUORESOFT® - 0.35% may be used with all soft contact lenses, eliminating the 1 to 2 hour wait necessary when using sodium fluorescein. Initial contact lens fitting may be done immediately after the B.U.T. test when using FLUORESOFT® - 0.35%, thereby saving valuable chair time.
Quick and Accurate Observation
FLUORESOFT® - 0.35% is ideal for the assessment of proper fitting characteristics of hydrogel contact lenses, for quickly and accurately locating the optic zone in aphakic or low plus lenses, and for evaluating the corneal integrity of patients wearing hydrogel contact lenses. In many instances, arcuate staining will show definite correlation with the edge of the optic zone, indicating improper bearing surfaces. It is important that proper and rapid recentering of the contact lens on the cornea be observed, since a lens that does not recenter quickly after blinking will lead to improper focusing and patient dissatisfaction.
Accurate Break Up Time
The B.U.T. test using FLUORESOFT® - 0.35% in place of sodium fluorescein is more accurate in detecting patients exhibiting dry eye conditions. An artificial tear or lubricating solution should not be used on the eye for at least four hours prior to the B.U.T test, since the ingredients in these solutions could affect the normal surface tension of the tear film and produce inaccurate readings. For best results, the B.U.T. test should be repeated with the contact lens on the eye using FLUORESOFT® - 0.35%.
The B.U.T. test is important because it will draw attention to those patients who may exhibit future adverse reaction to soft contact lens wear, allowing the practitioner to take advance precautions to ensure patient safety, comfort and satisfaction.
No More Waiting
APPLANATION TONOMETRY may be quickly and accurately conducted using FLUORESOFT® - 0.35% along with a topical anesthetic. By replacing a sodium fluorescein based solution with FLUORESOFT® - 0.35% one can eliminate the 1-2 hour wait time that is usually required before reinserting the contact lens.
In the traditional method, the contact lens is removed, and a drop of topical anesthetic is placed in the eye followed by a drop of FLUORESOFT® - 0.35%, after which the reading is immediately taken. The eye is then rinsed out to remove traces of the anesthetic and FLUORESOFT® - 0.35%, and the contact lens is reinserted without further delay. Alternately, some practitioners displace the lens to one side. A third method involves the use of FLUORESOFT® - 0.35% without an anesthetic with the probe placed directly on the contact lens (according to S. Kreda).
